Hairtalk Extensions
After Care
At hairtalk, we want you to have the best experience with your hair extension
transformation. Follow the steps below to keep your extensions and your own hair
looking their best between salon visits.
For optimal results, avoid wetting or washing hair
for at least 48 hours post application.
Brush
-
1. Section hair and brush gently from the ends upward toward the root.
-
2. At the root, make sure all hair is detangled to avoid matting.
-
3. Brush once more from the root downward.
WASH
-
1. Prior to washing, section hair and brush gently using a hairtalk Extension Brush.
-
2. Apply a small amount of hair extension friendly shampoo and gently scrub your
scalp horizontally between extensions using a gliding motion. Rinse well. -
3. Next, condition with a hair extension friendly conditioner. Work the product in from mid-length to ends to hydrate and protect extensions. Rinse well. Keep conditioner away from adhesives, bonds, or beads. For a deeper conditioning treatment, use
interchangeably with a hair extension friendly deep conditioning mask. -
4. After washing, towel dry, and detangle using a wet brush.
Style
-
1. Before styling, brush hair gently with the hairtalk Extension Brush.
-
2. Style as desired with your extension-friendly product of choice. Avoid applying
products near adhesive tabs, bonds and beads. -
3. Use a heat protectant on mid-lengths through ends to keep. Avoid temperature settings above 300°F.
Active
-
1. Before being active (ie. swimming, running, etc), mix a small amount of water with a hair extension friendly deep conditioning mask in a mist spray bottle. Lightly mist from mid-lengths through ends until damp to help prevent discoloration from chlorine, salt, sunscreen, and tanning products.
-
2. Brush gently and tie hair in a soft ponytail, braid, or top knot.
-
3. After these activities, wash, brush and styles as directed above.
Sleep
-
1. Avoid sleeping with wet, loose hair. Dry hair completely and tie into a soft ponytail, braid or top knot to help prevent matting and unwanted odor where extensions meet your scalp.
-
2. Use a silk pillowcase to reduce the friction caused by tossing and turning to avoid frizz and tangling.
